Inspector Isabel J. Foode

Isabel Foode was appointed Inspector of Meats in 1991. She manages an organisation of 50 field inspectors operating nationwide, a technical staff of 20 based in a central laboratory where microbiological and genetic analyses of meats are carried out, and an administrative staff of 5. Inspector Foode reports to the Deputy Minister of Public Health.

Inspector Foode's personal research interest is in the detection and identification of microbial pathogens in meats. She works towards improving the handling of meats in order to reduce the risk to the public of contracting meat-borne diseases.
